Q: What is simGP?

simGP is a free online GP education platform. The simGP model is based on a simulated patient consultation designed to replicate Australian primary care practice.
simGP provides GPs with an opportunity to undertake simulated patient consultations to practice and learn in a safe environment. This learning environment demonstrates the effects of clinical choices and actions in a simulated patient scenario, the aim being to enhance GP competence and confidence and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
simGP courses are reviewed by a GP Steering Committee and specialist key opinion leaders in the relevant therapeutic areas.

Q: Is it free to register for simGP?

Yes, it is free to register with the simGP online GP education platform and complete courses.

Q: Who can register for simGP?

Any Australian healthcare professionals with a valid AHPRA number can register for free with the simGP online GP education platform.
The content is designed specifically for GPs to meet their continuing professional development (CPD) needs and includes a range of accredited and non-accredited courses in different therapeutic areas.

Q: Are simGP courses accredited?

There is a variety of accredited (RACGP QI&CPD and ACRRM PDP) and non-accredited courses available in the simGP course catalogue. Accredited courses are all clearly labelled and details provided of the number of points available for completing a course.
When registering for simGP, GPs who provide details of their RACGP or ACRRM membership will automatically receive points for completing courses that are accredited by their provider.
If a course has not been accredited by the accrediting body of which you are a member, you can still access a certificate of completion for self-reporting purposes.

Q: How will my accrediting body know when I have completed a course?

You do not need to notify the RACGP or ACRRM about your completion of a simGP course. Every month we notify the RACGP and ACRRM of all GP members who have successfully completed an accredited simGP course. Your points will automatically be registered with your accrediting body within 5 weeks of completing the course.
